You just reinstalled Skyrim for work, and right away you saw it glitch—random flicker, grey frames, and characters moving only partway through animations. Others have had the same issue; it’s unclear what’s behind it or how to resolve it.

It could be a Windows 10 issue. Your system seems solid, so it might not be hardware-related. Check the Skyrim forums for similar experiences. Also, try running the game in windowed mode to determine if the problem persists there.

The best approach is to reinstall it once more, as I’ll need to observe the flickering to determine if it’s the game for the driver. It’s also wise to verify that you’re using the most recent video card drivers.

It could be. I’m fine and I use W10. Are you asking if the OP has a monitor with a 144Hz refresh rate or higher?

The game dislikes 144hz, my 27" 144hz Benq works just fine. Skyrim behaves the same way. Lowering the refresh rate to 120hz would eliminate the flicker and keep the game stable.

I'm facing the same issue again. I'm reducing the FPS to 60 using MSI Afterburner, which eliminates the flickering and microstuttering I experience.

Also note this addition: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/40706/. It resolves many micro stutter and graphical issues tied to frame rate. This is the updated borderless window mod that's no longer available. Give it a try. Whorax's advice for Afterburner helped some users, but didn't work for me.
