Hey everyone, imagine running Cities: Skylines with mods and extra assets on a 4K display at 60 frames per second. Ignoring the CPU and RAM, what graphics card would be best to meet this demand? (Note: I know this game is quite CPU-heavy, but the question is about GPU needs.) Updated September 6, 2016 by Evil E.

Processing demands are high, far exceeding GPU capabilities.

You'll need a powerful processor for Skylands—it's mainly CPU-intensive. You own a 4790K and usually hit around 60 FPS (about 55 FPS).

It's a CPU-heavy game, not GPU-dependent. A 1070 should handle it easily, and even a 980Ti would work fine.

It's tough to quantify because your game's performance is heavily influenced by your local environment. I think with your CPU handling demanding tasks—like focusing on vast urban scenes—the need to maintain 60 FPS at 4K might actually be modest. A GTX 980 Ti or 1070 could suffice, perhaps even less. To put this into context, I've used a GTX 1070 and noticed the frame rate dropping to around 40–50 FPS in dense city areas with detailed zooming.
