Game runs smoothly with minimal CPU and GPU activity, but performance is slow.
Hello, I recently purchased a new gaming PC and it isn't performing well with several games. I've tried many solutions from the internet, but nothing seems to help. My CPU usage in games like Squad 44 ranges between 20-30%, while my GPU usage is 30-40%. My FPS remains around 40-50 on mid-to-high settings. Could someone provide further assistance?
Setup details:
- i9-11900KF
- 8 processors, 3.5 GHz - 5.3 GHz
- 2*16 GB DDR4 RAM
- 1000GB SSD
- Power supply: 850W
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 10GB
What are your temperatures and the performance of the GPU and CPU? Thermal throttling in either component can prevent them from reaching their maximum speeds, which might also affect other parts of the system. If the CPU is heavily throttled, the GPU could become a bottleneck. Issues with the cooler installation or incorrect thermal paste application are common causes of this problem. Ensuring proper airflow helps reduce the risk of overheating.
While playing the game, the Temp reaches approximately 50 to 60 degrees Celsius.
According to your User Benchmark results, it appears the issue lies with your CPU. Consider using HWiNFO to display graphs for CPU and GPU thermal and power limits, then execute Prime95 and FurMark simultaneously while monitoring the graphs to identify any threshold violations.
Base clock 3.5 GHz, turbo 3.5 GHz (avg) means? Did you or Lenovo turn off Intel Turbo Boost? Or maybe you turned off C-States? [Turbo Boost won't work right if C-States are off.]
Average turbo in Userbenchmark should be several MHz higher than base, but it's not.
Thermal throttling is another chance, though less likely, since it needs the CPU to slow down just enough for the average to match the base clock.
Your rights! It was turned off in the BIOS and I turned it back on, but it still doesn’t fix the issue.
