Game runs at a high frame rate, but suffers from noticeable gameplay lag.
I am experiencing recording issues when streaming or utilizing OBS/Streamlabs. Despite maintaining 140 FPS in-game, I consistently encounter lag during recording and streaming, even when setting the video frame rate to 60 FPS. My in-game footage appears smooth, but recordings and streams exhibit lag when the video frame rate is reduced to 30 FPS (resulting in an in-game FPS of 300). This discrepancy should not affect smoothness given my 75 Hz monitor. Could you advise on potential causes?
My system specifications are: i7 7820X 3.6 GHz, 2x 16GB DDR4 1066 MHz, GTX 1080 Ti 11GB.
The issue is you’re not utilizing shadowplay. If you wish to continue using OBS, set the video at 30FPS and utilize the priority setting with a high value to ensure recording has precedence over the game, resulting in smoother recordings. If the game still lags at 30FPS while other applications are running, it indicates incompatibility with background processes. Alternatively, experiment with affinity settings, limiting the game to 12 threads and assigning the remaining 4 to OBS. Additionally, consider utilizing Battle Encoder Shirasé to reduce the game’s CPU usage by 30% and OBS's by 70%, adjusting these values as necessary to optimize performance for both applications.

If the game continues to lag at 30FPS despite this setting, it indicates incompatibility with other applications running simultaneously. Alternatively, experiment with affinity to restrict the game to 12 threads and OBS to the remaining 4 (adjust as necessary). Another approach is to try Battle Encoder Shirasé, which can reduce the game’s maximum CPU usage by 30% and OBS’s maximum by 70%, allowing both applications to utilize all cores while minimizing interference.
I am suggesting different programs to improve your performance, but shouldn't it be adequate on its own? My computer is high-end, so performance should not be an issue. Why am I seeing 180 frames per second while still experiencing a shaky view during gaming?
Shadowplay leverages the GPU for streaming, preventing performance interference. Utilizing the CPU for streaming causes Windows to lack awareness regarding whether to prioritize game smoothness or stream quality, as Windows is unaware of the process being executed.
I don't understand this. How is this a problem? I also have two monitors with different refresh rates and am experiencing the same stuttering issue when recording using Streamlabs.
