Hello everyone, I’m facing a rather unusual issue. I recently installed Windows 11 and have been dealing with this problem for several months. In Fortnite, I experience strange random frame drops that make the game unplayable and have even stopped my YouTube channel. This isn’t due to hardware problems—every component is brand new and has been tested by a professional technician. There’s no overheating either, and I’ve checked the drivers multiple times, even trying different ones. It can’t be software since I’ve tested both Windows 10 and 11, and my current setup is just a fresh install with only Fortnite running and the newest graphics drivers. If a slow Ethernet connection could cause these drops, I’m not sure what else is at play. Thank you for your assistance.

Fortnite received a big graphical overhaul. You'll need to disable many new elements such as Lumen, Shadows, and Reflections for a smoother performance. Also, your hardware specifications play a key role.

Your system runs an i5 10400f with an RTX 3080 and 32GB RAM. The issue seems stable even after adjusting settings, and it’s been occurring since before the update.

I faced comparable problems too; turning off most graphics features didn’t fully resolve it, but using the shader cache and DX 11 mode helped eliminate most stutters. Are you using DX 11 or DX 12? In your NVIDIA Control panel, under Manage 3D Settings, adjust the shader cache size and set it to unlimited. Try a few matches in Team Rumble to check if stability improves.

I enabled an unlimited shader cache and started using DX12 mode, which feels a bit more fluid than DX11 for me. The issue still occurred despite that change.

The main issue is balancing frame rate to avoid performance issues. Without limiting frames, it would run too fast (130-200fps) with inconsistencies (50-90fps drops). Capping at 120fps keeps it stable, but setting it to 60fps would cause noticeable drops to 20-30fps. The menu also shows erratic FPS changes during match start, which doesn’t match the expected performance on a 3080 12gb system.
