Game-related use causing harm to hard disk drives.
My father recently delivered a new gaming computer to supersede our previous machine—a used office PC from around 2005—after the storage drive became unusable and we lost access to our data. The technician at the repair facility indicated that this failure stemmed from excessive usage. Consequently, my father has forbidden video games on the gaming PC, claiming that they will “wear down” the hard drive. Does playing video games substantially increase wear on an HDD, or is he being overly cautious?
