I recently reviewed my CS:GO collection and shared all the older titles I owned. Most items sold, and my Steam balance jumped from just $0.10 to over 41 CAD. I’ve attached the games I added to Steam, along with F1 22, Skylines, InfraSpace, PolyBridge 2, and several PopCap titles. My preferences span quite a range. Apart from Hogwarts Legacy for Christmas, I’m unsure what’s trending or worth checking out on Steam, so I’m seeking suggestions. Personally, I’m leaning toward single-player experiences. With an eSports background, I already don’t have time for lengthy multiplayer sessions, so games with straightforward campaigns or quick sessions would suit me best.

I rely on immersive sims for my top picks because they offer broad options and creative freedom. Classic titles tend to be a bit tricky to access, so while I definitely suggest Thief 1 & 2, Deus Ex or System Shock 2 eventually, I usually recommend newer releases that have emerged since the revival. Make sure you try them out once you're comfortable with the style—older games often provided more flexibility than modern titles can manage. I’d mainly point to recent Arkane projects: Dishonored, Prey, and Deathloop. They deliver solid gameplay, though Prey really stands out narratively. Deus Ex has a strong prequel series that deserves appreciation, but Human Revolution and Mankind Divided each have notable issues. BioShock brings immersive simulation elements but leans heavily into one playstyle, yet it’s rewarding for its story. BioShock 2 offers top-tier mechanics but falls short on storytelling. BioShock: Infinite is less refined in gameplay but delivers an engaging tale. Speaking of these titles, I’m excited about Ken Levine’s upcoming Judas, which seems to carry on the BioShock legacy.

I suggest the Valve titles (excluding Dota 2) such as Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 4 are excellent. Halo: The Master Chief Collection features Halo 1, 2, 3, ODST, Reach, and 4—also notable for its story-driven gameplay with online co-op options. For strategy fans, consider Sid Meier's Civilization 5 and 6.

I'm really enjoying Kingdom Come: Deliverence and Battletech right now. Rimworld is super fun, and KSP is unbeatable. These games are all on sale right now—KCD and Battletech were both for $10 each a few weekends back.

Consider exploring all Dark Souls titles. They offer valuable lessons in patience, flexibility, and determination. You'll face frequent losses, but over time you realize these setbacks are part of the journey and help you improve steadily. This gameplay style contrasts sharply with fast-paced titles like Doom or Cyberpunk, where you rarely recall past failures or reconsider strategies after defeat.

EverSpace, EverSpace 2 Fortresscraft has advanced (still a classic—great for automation, tower defense in Minecraft). Missiles are being dodged.
