Despite my enjoyment of simulation-heavy games like BeamNG, Spintires, and Forza Horizon 4, I consistently experience crashes after extended play sessions. The duration before a crash varies significantly – sometimes lasting for an unreasonable amount of time (particularly in BeamNG), while other times it occurs within under a minute in titles such as Forza Horizon 4.

Consequently, I’ve been unable to fully engage with the core gameplay of these games, which is highly disappointing. When BeamNG crashes, it typically displays a “Fatal GPU Error,” though I don't believe my graphics card is the root cause. I’ve tested both my original GPU (an MSI GTX 1050) and an upgraded one (a Zotac 1060 6GB) across multiple games, and the issue persists. Considering I purchased the 1060 secondhand, the possibility of both cards sharing a similar defect seems plausible. Therefore, I suspect another component within my system is responsible for these crashes. I’m keen to determine the source of this problem – whether it relates to the graphics cards or some other element of my computer setup.

The power supply unit is a custom Aerocool Integrator model rated at 500 watts. Within the racing game Forza, the central processing unit's highest temperature typically reaches approximately 50 degrees Celsius, while the graphics card’s maximum temperature generally sits around 54 degrees Celsius.

It’s likely due to an issue there. Consider upgrading the power supply unit.

I successfully achieved stable operation of Forza at 30 frames per second, utilizing minimal graphical settings and progressing to the second race. However, the process required three system reboots to overcome initial startup issues.

That’s quite impressive, considering 500 watts was previously considered excellent, honestly.

A power supply unit of 500 watts would be sufficient. However, the model itself is inadequate; acquiring a high-quality power supply is essential.

The power supply unit, or PSU, is a critical component of a computer system. The Aerocool model was previously included with the machine.

I’ve unfortunately spent one hundred pounds acquiring a fresh power supply unit and enclosure, yet this frustrating issue persists.
