Game performance remains stable with a fixed frame rate and efficiency settings after upgrading to Windows 11.
I improved my PC last week, switching from Windows 10 to Windows 11 with a fresh install and new disk. However, two problems remained unresolved. The first was that all my games ran at 144 fps, matching my monitor’s refresh rate. I disabled in-game vertical sync, turned off the global Vertical Sync setting in the NVIDIA App, and also disabled G Sync, but nothing resolved the issue. The second problem involved Chrome slowing down when games were active. Usually I streamed YouTube or similar on the side while playing casual games, but after the upgrade I experienced lag, buffering, and picture quality drops on YouTube. A search revealed Efficiency Mode might be the culprit. I attempted two fixes: adding the `--disable-features=UseEcoQoSForBackgroundProcess` parameter and using Energy Star X software. Both configurations completed without errors, yet the problem persisted. I also tried manually disabling Chrome’s Efficiency Mode via Task Manager, but the underlying processes kept restarting. My system specs: Ryzen 9 9950X3D, ASUS Strix X870E-E, RTX 4070 Ti, Windows 11 24H2, GeForce Game Ready Driver 576.52.
