Game performance limits to 60 frames per second in fullscreen mode.
I purchased a new laptop and every game I played caps its frames per second at 60. This appears only when apps run in fullscreen mode. I've disabled vSync in NVIDIA Control Panel and the games, but the issue persists. I'm using the high performance power plan as well. My system specs are: i5 7300HQ GTX1050 with 8GB RAM. At this stage, I'm considering reinstalling Windows to try a fresh start... Edit: It seems directly connected to my refresh rate—changing it affects the cap too.
It was always possible to play in a borderless windowed environment.
Not every game uses its own Vsync configuration. Some have built-in settings while others require custom adjustments.
Ensure you're working in safe mode. Perform a clean reinstall of all drivers and remove any related software files. Wipe out any data associated with previous installations to prevent contamination. The process may involve clearing settings from the laptop's built-in software, as it could contain bloatware. A fresh Windows 10 installation should resolve these issues, though you might want to consult someone more experienced if needed.
I simply applied DDU and updated the older NVIDIA driver, which resolved the issue (y).
The straightforward answers tend to work well. I didn’t realize you could change drivers back.
