Hello,

Over the past few months, I’ve begun experiencing frame rate dips on my computer, resulting in choppy gameplay. This is quite frustrating.
More recently, the problem has become significantly worse.
This is happening with games that aren’t particularly demanding, such as League of Legends and Rocket League.
My current hardware configuration is as follows:

CPU: AMD Phenom II 1090T
Motherboard: Asus M5A97
Graphics Card: GTX 780
12 GB of RAM (two 4GB sticks plus two 2GB sticks)
OCZ 650W Power Supply Unit
Three Solid State Drives and two Hard Disk Drives.

I recognize that my processor is quite outdated, yet I previously performed extremely well in these games, achieving over 90 frames per second.
Currently, I’m consistently seeing frame rates drop into the low 30s and sometimes even the teens.
Has anyone else encountered similar issues?

Thank you!

Last night, I checked their temperatures using Speedfan, and they were operating at remarkably cool levels. Even during gameplay, both fans consistently remained within the 45 to 50 °C range. Further testing revealed that adjusting graphics settings within the game to their lowest setting did not enhance performance whatsoever.

If it’s not chilly where you are, I doubt those temperatures are accurate, particularly for the graphics card. Use HWMonitor; it will track the highest temperature in the right-hand column. Launch the game and play for a bit, or at least until you experience those frame rate drops, and then tell me the maximum temperature for both your processor and graphics card.

How has everything shifted?
Have you performed any system upkeep?
Could an inefficient driver have been installed?
Might a malicious program or virus be present?
Is there accumulation of dirt within your computer?
Lagging performance is frequently due to insufficient processing power.
If your processor is generating excessive heat, the clock speed will decrease.

I’m unsure if I made any alterations previously.

I recently ran a test with HWMonitor open while idle. The highest CPU temperature reached 52°C, and the maximum GPU temperature was 50°C.

Edit: When using FurMark, I can rapidly elevate my GPU temperature beyond 60°C and my CPU to the upper 50s °C. It seems my parts tend to remain at a low level during gaming, almost as if they are reluctant to draw additional power.
