My computer system is a Windows 10 64-bit operating system running on an Intel Core i7-2600 processor paired with a GTX 1070 Gigabyte OC graphics card. I have a 1TB hard drive and 8GB of RAM installed. Previously, three years ago, I played Payday 2 with these exact specifications without encountering any difficulties. However, recently, when I began playing again, my frames per second occasionally drop to 30.

I've included screenshots as evidence: https://imgur.com/a/pS6Fm2f and https://imgur.com/a/Y03nQ9R. The images demonstrate that my central processing unit consistently reaches 80% or higher utilization, while the other components appear stable. Could this be the reason for my fluctuating frame rates? Furthermore, considering I only have 8GB of RAM and use a 5000MB configuration with only 3GB remaining, is that contributing to my performance issues? I recognize my CPU isn't as powerful as my graphics card, but upgrading is currently not feasible. Are there any potential solutions to address this problem, or am I permanently limited to experiencing subpar performance due to my aging processor?

Have your specifications remained identical to three years prior? Has your equipment experienced no alterations whatsoever? If so, attempt disabling and re-enabling the core experiencing throttling through task manager using "set affinity" to observe if this resolves the issue.

Have your technical specifications remained identical to three years prior? Is there absolutely no alteration in your equipment? If that’s the case, attempt to disable and re-enable the performance-limiting core using Task Manager's "set affinity" feature to observe if this resolves the issue.
