I tried to transfer some of my Steam games to the new SSD I got. Steam suggested creating a new folder for my library. I pressed E for my drive, then selected NEW and made a Steamlibrary folder. After choosing it, I clicked OK, but it said it couldn’t create the file. I’m not sure what to do next—please help!
Create a directory on your fresh storage and name it however you like (like EX Steam), then set it as your target place.
In short, I did the same yesterday with a new HDD. Format the SSD. Create a folder named Steam in Windows if needed. Launch Windows Explorer. Navigate to the computer drive where your original files are stored, then go to Program Files (x86). In Steam, select Common copy all the games you wish to move. In Steam’s top bar, choose Settings → Downloads → New Steam Folder. Pick the drive, name the folder, and upload your games. In Steam Games, click Download Now. Steam will install the new version and replace the old files in the library.
