Hello, your questions about Windows Game Mode are common. Most users don’t rely on it, but those who do often value its performance boosts and enhanced graphics. The main advantages tend to be smoother gameplay and better visuals, especially on older hardware. Whether it’s worth the effort depends on your system and gaming needs.

It offers almost no real advantage. I experimented with it and observed a minor slowdown in several games and some applications. For systems with limited capabilities, the improvement might be more noticeable.

This feature mainly helps players with under 8GB of memory by reducing the impact of less critical RAM usage.

Of course, highlighting its greater advantage when the PC is less powerful.

UWP Games gains the most from Game Mode by default. The outcome varies depending on the game type. For multi-processed games, performance might drop because resources are directed toward the front-displaying process, limiting priority for other tasks—unless Microsoft includes the game in its compatibility list. Single-process games see greater advantages. Game Mode aims to strip away many layers, allowing games to operate closer to hardware capabilities, similar to Win32 applications. In contrast, Win32 games benefit when background processes are managed, reducing impact on performance. If you frequently close background services before launching a game, Game Mode won’t offer any performance improvements.
