Hello everyone, I'm facing an issue on Steam where launching or playing certain games causes it to restart to the original settings. This happens with some titles but others still function normally. I'm using a ROG Flow x13 with XG Mobile (AMD Ryzen 9 5980HS, 16GB RAM, NVIDIA RTX 3080). Steam is installed on the C drive and GameFounder on NAS.

Did you launch the game and then terminate it? Perhaps by pressing ALT+F4 or simply closing it normally. If that happened, open your task manager—click the Windows start button, right-click on it, select Task Manager, then click more details, proceed to the details section, and locate your game there. If present, right-click it and choose end task. Often the game service remains active but isn't visible.

I end the game as usual. It felt familiar, like I already knew what was coming. I just opened it from my local files, not bothering to ask why, but realized it had happened before—even in games I thought were normal, like Elden Ring. I started wondering about others.

I encountered an issue with Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege where Steam continues to detect the game as open after it has closed. The application button remains active even though the game is shut down. Checking Task Manager for any lingering processes can help identify running games. If nothing appears there, please describe your steps and what you've tried so far, along with how you close the applications.

That issue with Cyberpunk, ACC and Cities: Skylines usually popped up after the Nvidia driver update. I fixed it by removing the game from the Steam library (which didn’t help before), doing a fresh driver install, restarting before trying again, and it now works. Give it a shot—it might help you too.
