Game issues and blue screen errors are common problems.
Hello, thank you for reaching out. I understand if I posted in the wrong area; I don’t use this forum much. As mentioned in the title, I’ve been facing problems with my desktop PC for about a month now. It began with occasional bluescreens, and I’m still trying to figure out which issue came first—possibly a PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA. Since I hadn’t installed anything recently, things have gotten worse.
I experience different crashes: sometimes the game freezes or closes abruptly (especially when playing Overwatch 2), and other times it just stops with no message. Occasionally, an error pops up saying something like “the game crashed in the graphics driver.” I’m planning to share screenshots of the errors I’ve collected over the past few days.
Here are my system details:
- **Gigabyte X570 AORUS ELITE**
- **AMD Ryzen 7 3700X (Corsair H100i AIO)**
- **Corsair Vengeance PRO 2x8 GB, 3600mhz**
- **AORUS RTX 2080 Super**
- **Sabrent 1TB NVMe + 2TB Seagate HDD**
- **Corsair Vengeance 650M PSU**
I’ve tried several solutions so far:
- Running Windows Memory Diagnostic
- Uninstalling and reinstalling DDU video drivers
- Formatting the drive and doing a clean Windows install
Recently, I’ve been playing Minecraft, Rocket League, Overwatch 2, Conan Exiles, and these problems have mostly occurred with Overwatch 2 and Conan. I had at least one BSOD during modded sessions or shader Minecraft playthroughs. I’m not 100% sure, but it could be related to those mods.
After formatting, I didn’t see a BSOD, but Overwatch 2 crashed twice—once with no errors and once with everything freezing completely. The task manager showed only a very slow spinning window. The error codes I’ve seen are:
- BSOD during gameplay
- Lagging window pointer in taskbar
- Memory corruption warnings
I suspect hardware issues now, possibly due to RAM or GPU failure. Since upgrading GPUs is expensive, I’m leaning toward a memory or graphics card problem. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
There are many experts on this forum, but I wanted to share my thoughts too. The games you talked about that caused crashes tend to be more demanding visually than the ones you didn’t have issues with. For instance, Minecraft works well until you turn on a heavy mod or shader pack. This suggests I should start by checking your graphics card. By chance, is this machine a prebuilt unit or built from a ready-made PC? A friend of mine recently needed help fixing random blue screens and eventually couldn’t play VR games without the system shutting down. Their graphics card was a Gigabyte RTX 2080 Super. Hope this helps!
I didn’t use any ready-made setup. I did reuse a few components, but this seems unrelated since it was a very particular situation. I built a similar computer when I was in the UK in 2020 during the pandemic, and I used it for no more than six months. After returning to Italy, I kept only the PSU and RAM because those were the only parts I could transport due to limited luggage space. My main worry is the graphics card failing, though I’m not entirely sure—it might have started after I bought a new 2k monitor, but it’s hard to say if timing was the issue or something else.
