My problem appears unusual and hard to locate among many others facing the same challenge. Most titles such as Fortnight, Overwatch and Call of Duty tend to cap my FPS at certain levels—Fortnight at 120, Overwatch at 60. Adjusting the FPS limit lower than that works, but raising it still caps at that number. This behavior only occurs in Fullscreen or Borderless windowed mode and disappears when I switch to windowed mode. It seems the opposite might be happening, and I’m unsure what’s causing it. I’ve checked all game settings and Nvidia Control panel, ensuring v-sync is off. I’m on Windows 10 with a GTX 1080, and I’m currently using a workaround called "Windowed borderless gaming" to run the games in windowed mode while pretending they’re in borderless. It functions well, but ideally I’d like to avoid relying on third-party software for most games. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Edit: It appears the issue stems from having a second monitor at 60Hz. How can I resolve this so I don’t have to turn off my monitor to enable fullscreen?

Your NVIDIA panel settings are configured to disable synchronization. You are using Gsync for display scaling.

Performed a web search using your title and retrieved relevant information. Uncertain if it assists, but considered disabling the "Game mode" in Windows settings and checking the DVR functionality.

I mainly aim for top performance, turn VSync off, and choose the highest refresh rate possible. I don’t rely on G-Sync.

Open Nvidia Settings, turn off your second display, and attempt again. The issue persists with the TV connected to your PC.

It doesn’t appear to be the problem. It seems Microsoft took away the option to turn off gaming mode, and the only solution was modifying the registry, but that didn’t resolve the issue.

Just tested it and found the problem. Now I'm checking for alternatives so I don't have to switch monitors each time I play. Thanks!

I also thought it was a bit silly once I realized that, but then I saw the opposite happen. In my situation, I only get 60 frames when playing Borderless on a connected TV. Yours seems to be lucky!
