Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with direct X12 because my games stutter a lot. Even though I set my screen to windowed mode to figure it out, it looks like background apps are making my CPU hit 100% and that's why things go wrong. Here is what I'm running: an Intel i5-12600, a 3080 GPU, 16GB of RAM at 3600MHz G.Skill. This happens mostly in Battlefield 5. You can see the attached photo at https://imgur.com/a/r3JKsB1
My PC has a Corsair 850W power supply rated for 80+ Gold. Both heat levels are around 70 degrees when it's hot, but my CPU is often slightly lower than that while the SSD still shows about 200GB of free space. It feels strange because it starts stuttering a lot right after I launch games, then it settles down later. Fortnite crashes or loads very poorly even though other games like GTA 5 run smoothly and Warzone runs well on my side. Battlefield 1 and 5 have terrible stutters at the beginning of each round, and Borderlands 3 has tiny shaking issues in some moments. Do you know why this is happening?
Here is a breakdown of your power supply situation:
You have a Corsair RM850 with an 850W rating. It's rated for 80+ Gold efficiency. Both the CPU and the SSD (Noctua) are around 70 degrees Celsius, which isn't bad but not perfect either.
Here is what's happening:
Your hard drive only has about 200GB of free space left. The power supply is doing its job fine. It's a bit strange because your system starts stuttering when you click the start button for new games. Usually, it gets better after a few seconds and just runs okay once settled down.
However, Fortnite is very bad right from the start. It won't load at all.
Other games work much smoother than Fortnite:
* GTA 5 is smooth as butter.
* Warzone is also very smooth.
* Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 5 have a lot of stutter that feels almost unplayable when you first click to start the round.
* Borderlands 3 has tiny, annoying stutters all the time.
