I just started my PC and noticed something in the bottom right corner: a new game added to inventory, but I didn’t do anything. What does this mean? Could my account be compromised or is there an issue? Also, I’m having trouble finding a new game in my inventory.

Review your inbox. I understand Steam provides a receipt after purchases. If uncertain, update your password.

Navigate to your inventory page displaying your trading cards and items. Did the notification read "new game in your inventory" or "new item in your inventory"?

It's probably a free weekend or another brief trial period. Steam includes them without permission. They don't download automatically. Inventory updates are the same. Steam sometimes adds coupon codes by chance. Or maybe someone gave you a gift.

It seems you might have a new item in your inventory, such as a trading card. Occasionally, they offer random discounts to indie games or similar projects. I don't know why this happens, but it's worth checking your email for receipts. You can also change your password if you're concerned, though I think it's not a big deal.

Could you look at your game collection? I found Hitman 2 in my library last week.

steam organized an event related to the lunar theme recently. they distributed redeemable tokens that could be exchanged within a limited time period, from profile badges and other non-valuable status items.

I figured it out—it was a lunar emoji I bought using tokens on Steam Mobile some time ago.
