Game experiences lag and appears sluggish on the Ryzen 9 5950X.
Hey, I've been experiencing hiccups in games (short pauses around 0.5 seconds) and have been trying to figure this out for a while. Here are the details: CPU is a Ryzen 9 5950x, motherboard is Aorus x570 Pro Wi-Fi, RAM is 4x8GB at 3200 MHz. I suspect memory might be the problem. I noticed it was running at the default speed of 2133 MHz, but after enabling XMP with 3200 MHz and 16-18-18-36 timings at 1.35v, it worked fine—only with two modules. When I set it to 3000 MHz at 1.25v, performance improved noticeably.
Now I'm wondering: what do "they" refer to? Are they experts who ran tests comparing different setups? They might have looked at benchmarks to see how various configurations perform.
I'm thinking about swapping in higher-speed RAM—maybe a 4000 MHz kit—and running it at 3600 MHz. Sounds like a possibility, but I want to make sure it's safe. Based on the specs, the CPU supports up to 3200 MHz, so going higher could be risky. But if I stick with 3000 MHz at 3600, it might help. Let me know what you think!
Also, temperatures are normal (around 70°C under load, 60-70% during normal use, 40°C idle).
