i have my 970 boosted to 1560 on the core and 7800 on memory, and everything works well in my games. i've been playing for a couple of months now. but when i tried gta tonight with the oc, i kept seeing terrible artifacts—red flashes and green bits everywhere. i increased the voltage, but that didn't fix it. then i moved to a smaller oc, which seemed okay unless i was in an airport. but during a heist in the middle of the game, it crashed again and showed the same error code the op mentioned: why gta? why don't they support overclocks?!

I experienced identical unusual red flashes and artifacts, along with the same error code. This is quite typical for overclocking setups.

In contrast, my 970 in GTA V manages the maximum overclock I can achieve, whereas WoW freezes even at +25 cores.

It's nice that WOW doesn't require heavy overclocking.

Perhaps it's a coincidence. I use my GTX 980 at 1444Mhz core/7.52Ghz memory, and GTA has never crashed during normal gameplay. The odd crashes and restarts usually happen only when adjusting the grass quality settings.
