I built my own PC around 4 to 6 years ago, and it functioned perfectly at first. Last year it began crashing unexpectedly while I played games. I suspected the old GPU I hadn’t upgraded during assembly might be the cause. This month I purchased a new MSI 1660 SUPER X Gaming graphics card with 6 GB RAM and installed it, hoping the issue would disappear. Unfortunately, it continued to crash. I attempted fixes but the problem persisted.

My current system specifications are: CPU – Ryzen 7 1800X, GPU – MSI 1660 SUPER X Gaming 6 GB, motherboard – ASRock X370 Killer SLI, power supply – 700W Silverstone 80+ Silver, RAM – 2x8GB at 2400 MHz (brand unknown, not covered), screenshot attached for more details. I translated some parts from the MSIinfo screenshot due to language differences.

After updating the BIOS and checking compatibility on ASRock’s site, I applied the latest release. The PC survived, but the crashes continued. It stopped functioning for about four days before resuming. Recently, when playing Rainbow 6 Siege, I couldn’t play for 15 minutes; it crashed in the menu and displayed a Windows error. R6Siege refused to access my graphics card.

I tried resetting to factory settings, wiping everything, reinstalling Windows, updating drivers, and downloading games. The PC still crashes, and performance is poor – GTA runs smoothly until I go too fast, then I experience micro-lags followed by crashes. Rainbow 6 Siege is also consistently lagging, even at full speed.

Test on an 8GB SSD and observe stability. Check if crashes occur only during games or also outside them.

No issues beyond the games. Just the games crash; PC is stable now. I’ll test with one stick.

Maybe it's not a RAM problem, but it's still worth giving it a shot.

GPU runs near 40°C during tasks, drops to about 30°C when idle, BIOS shows 65°C in-game. After installing AMD Ryzen Master, it reports 47°C while playing.

After removing one stick, I restarted the PC and encountered an error stating: "An operating system wasn't found." It seems to suggest disconnecting any drives without an OS before attempting to boot. Right now, I'm unable to start the computer.

When RAM failed, crashes mainly occurred during gameplay. Memtest86 is a free tool to check memory health. Could be a dis/ss or M.2 issue?

I aim to retrieve the program once I’m connected to my PC. I have two HDDs, but this issue has never occurred before—only after using a single RAM stick did it happen.

Removing RAM doesn't impact drive connections; verify the drive interfaces.
