Looking for advice on fixing PUBG? The game tends to crash right after you pull the parachute. On a few occasions, I was able to play without interruption for a short period (0-5 minutes before crash).

System specs: i5-2400 GTX 770, 16 GB DDR3, 1333 MHz, 2 TB HDD, 5400 RPM, 600 W power supply. My thought is these crashes might stem from the slower hard drive handling random read/write operations.

According to FRAPS, the game maintains around 70 FPS minimum and about 100 FPS on average with low graphics settings. Other titles like Farcry5 work smoothly without any problems. I’m pretty sure the CPU or graphics card isn’t the problem. The video card passed stress tests at full load (99.7%), with temperatures reaching up to 60°C and the GPU up to 80°C.

Tried these fixes:
1. Manually adjusted pagefile size to 5000-5500 MB – allowed 5-10 minutes without crashing.
2. Disabled page file entirely – improved stability for 20-30 minutes.
3. Ran the game without MSI Afterburner or FRAPS – no impact.
4. Checked game cache integrity – all files verified, no issues.
5. Closed background programs – no effect.
6. Tried overclocking the graphics card – still crashed at the same spot.
7. Swapped RAM slots and used different slots.
8. Played at lower settings; Windows auto-set pagefile to around 3000 MB, which caused crashes.

Next steps: Consider using an SSD instead, as I have one in stock and expect it to help. I’ve played on many hard drives before, but they didn’t cause crashes. Any other tips would be appreciated.

The game requires around 10-12 GB of storage, so a 7th generation CPU would be ideal. A 2nd generation processor is quite insufficient. Upgrade for better performance!

The issue wasn't about the CPU choice. I own an 8700K in my gaming setup, which is just a budget machine for personal use. I've played this title on several second-generation processors. It's... sufficient. It keeps the system running at least at 60 FPS and isn't the reason for the crashes.

In a sudden shift in plans, I’d consider selling the hard drive from the PC. It’s unclear if this will fully resolve the issue... I’m expecting a new SSD by Friday.

Do you transfer all data from your HDD to SSD or perform a complete installation?

The installation will be straightforward since I no longer have an HDD. I was giving away another PC to someone on Craigslist who required extra space, so I used part of the HDD from that machine.
