Hi everyone, today I was enjoying some video games - Cities Skylines, not too intense. About 30 minutes in, my computer stopped working, screen froze, and no signal appeared. I tried rebooting but didn’t get a response. I used an HDMI cable instead of the display cable, reset the GPU, unplugged the power cable, and then restarted it. After that, I rebooted again with all RAM sticks reset. The computer started without the GPU, connected via HDMI to the motherboard, and switched monitors. I replaced the NVMe drive with an SSD at the time of the crash. There were no unusual sounds. My home power was fine. When I tried to turn it back on now, it powered up quickly, the RGB lights came on, fans spun fast, and everything looked normal. After a short boost, the motherboard diagnostic light changed from red to orange and then solid white during boot. If I try to shut it off with the power button, it stops instantly, unlike usual for these specs (all new). My setup includes: ASUS ROG Strix Z690-A Gaming WiFi D4 LGA1700 (Intel® 12th Gen), Intel CPU Core i7-12700F, Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 32GB (4x8GB), Samsung 970 EVO Plus SSD 2TB, Corsair iCUE H100i RGB Pro XT, 240mm Radiator Corsair RM Series, RM850, 850W, 80+ Gold.

You’ve purchased an F CPU that lacks an integrated GPU, so linking an HDMI cable to the motherboard won’t help. Usually, when this occurs, you should be preparing for a stressful situation. Have you completely removed the device? Have you tested it on another power source? Removing components one by one can assist, though it may not always work depending on your troubleshooting approach. What type of cooler does your CPU have?

You're asking about the meaning of "unplug" in this context. Does it refer to the power cable or each internal cable inside the PC? I noticed the issue continues even after changing outlets and swapping cables inside the case. I also replaced every cable in the case, including the CPU cooler (Corsair iCUE H100i RGB Pro XT) and the 240mm radiator, along with the power supply (Corsair RM850, 850W, 80+ Gold).

The power connector usually fixes most problems—try removing it and checking if the system starts. If the same problem appears at another outlet, that’s concerning. With the POST error indicators, do you notice which component is repeatedly chosen?

Immediately after pressing the power button, the CPU lights up red for one second, then shifts to orange for about half a second, remains inactive for 1.5 seconds, and stays on continuously in white afterward.

Have you considered another GPU to test?

It's almost like you'll need to ask someone for help or find a place where you can try it out.

The post lights indicate a power issue or hardware fault. The GPU is the most likely cause because it often fails when the system overheats or experiences voltage problems. Based on your past experience, the CPU or motherboard issues are less common unless other symptoms appear. Thank you for your patience!
