Hey, I see what you're dealing with. You're trying to capture gameplay without OBS, but the quality isn't up to par even with high bitrate settings. Since you're looking for a budget-friendly option—maybe under $130—without a new CPU or Elgato, here are a few ideas:

- Explore free or low-cost H.264 codecs like **x264** or **libx264**. These can be installed on your PC and used with tools like **OBS Studio** (free version) to record at higher resolutions.
- Consider using a lightweight recording software such as **VLC Media Player** with the "Record" feature, though it may not support 1080p60 natively.
- If you're open to upgrading slightly, a mid-range CPU like the **Intel Core i5-10400** or **AMD Ryzen 5 5600G** can handle the extra load better than older models.
- Look into free H.264 accelerators like **FFmpeg** (command line) for more control over encoding settings.

If you want, I can walk you through setting up a simple recording pipeline using these options. Just let me know!

I might be confusing myself, but I remember hearing about using integrated graphics on the CPU to capture recordings with tools like xSplit while gaming on a dedicated GPU. It seems I haven't found it yet—maybe a quick search would help clarify.

GPU acceleration could improve performance. If the 5870 isn't available, I'll likely get a 7970, 280x, or 380 instead. It should work on those cards. Let's check availability.

It's a function in OBS called Quick Sync. I'll try it out.

Your processor performs well enough. It seems your graphics card might be the weak point, especially noticeable when recording frame rates drop.
