I recently received a new PC, which was reportedly tested for five days before shipment. I paid extra for moderate overclocking. Upon arrival, I installed a second SSD. The PC is experiencing black screen issues while gaming, occurring randomly from five minutes to five hours. I investigated potential fixes online without success. Monitoring temperatures with MSI showed GPU temps of 35°C idle and 60-70°C during gaming, while the CPU peaked at 30-50°C. Prime95 resulted in black screen crashes within three to four minutes, even after disabling overclocking and reverting to auto settings. Event Viewer and minidumps show no errors. Specs: PSU - Corsair CX550 550W, CPU – AMD Ryzen 5 1400 3.2Ghz, Cooler - CM MasterAir MA410P, RAM – 16GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 2400Mhz, Motherboard – Asus TUF B450-Plus Gaming, GPU - Nvidia GeForce® GTX 1660 6GB, Storage – 250GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD (Windows 10) and 1TB Samsung 860 Evo SSD. I’ve attempted reinstalling graphics drivers using DDU, but the issue persists. Additionally, when installing standard drivers, I receive a "sorry unable to install driver" message prompting me to use GeForce Experience—this method works, but I’m unsure if this is relevant or normal.

Testing it in safe mode would, if possible, more or less confirm whether the issue is hardware or software. Identifying whether it’s blackscreening or shutting down could be useful because they indicate different problems. However, there are plenty of trials/errors and tests we could...

Welcome to the forums my friend!
How new is the PC, if it is new, and you paid for them to make it and sort it, regardless I would contact them to have them fix it as they should sort it if they have sold faulty items.
What are your
individual
CPU core temps
under load
, not jsut the overall package?
Does the black screen only occur when it is under load?

Thank you for your response. The PC was assembled on June 6th and delivered on the 14th following testing. I hoped it would not be a hardware issue to avoid return procedures, but if that is the only possibility. The CPU core temperatures are normal—idle at 27°C, peaking at 40°C under load (Subnautica for one hour). I am uncertain whether the system is black screening or simply shutting down; the screen turns dark, but the RGB illuminated USB keyboard and mouse deactivate.

Testing in safe mode would largely determine if it’s hardware or software. Identifying whether it’s blackscreening or shutting down can indicate different problems. However, there are numerous tests and attempts we could undertake to pinpoint the issue. Considering it’s a new, prebuilt PC, returning it to the manufacturer for resolution is my recommended course of action as they require awareness of potential problems with their products.

The problem has been resolved. It appears the CPU cooler had become dislodged during shipping, and several holding bolts to the back plate were loose, preventing adequate contact between the cooler and the CPU. This was not identified upon initial receipt of the system. Applying new thermal paste and tightening the bolts has resulted in significantly reduced temperatures and a week of stable operation (40 hours of gaming time). The issue is now anticipated to be resolved.
