Hello everyone. As mentioned in the thread title, I’m facing difficulties with CPU overclocking.
My current setup includes:
CPU: Intel Pentium G3258 (currently running at 3.6GHz in BIOS, though it seems standard in the OS)
MOBO: ASRock Fatal1ty H87 Performance
RAM: 8GB Kingston HyperX Fury DDR3
GPU: Gainward GTX 750 2GB
HDD: 1TB WD Blue 3.5", 1TB WD Black 3.5"
PSU: Brand unknown, but 750w capacity
I’m quite uncertain about the next steps and would appreciate any advice!

What version of windows are you running? Unless you've turned off updates (not recommended) or on an older version of windows with updates turned off, many updates contain intel's microcode update.
On just about every non z board it cancelled overclocking and many found they could either run the g3258 with both cores active at factory speeds
or
run a single core overclocked but not both overclocked. Overclocking was meant to be done on z series boards like z87/z97, not h series boards. It was possible for awhile but bios updates and windows updates included the 'fix'.
Here's one example of a discussion regarding a common issue with that combo...

Hello everyone. As mentioned in the thread title, I'm facing difficulties with CPU overclocking.
My current setup includes:
CPU: Intel Pentium G3258 (currently at 3.6GHz in BIOS, but standard in OS for some reason)
MOBO: ASRock Fatal1ty H87 Performance
RAM: 8GB Kingston HyperX Fury DDR3
GPU: Gainward GTX 750 2GB
HDD: 1TB WD Blue 3.5", 1TB WD Black 3.5"
PSU: Brand unknown, but 750w capacity
I'm quite uncertain about the next steps, so any advice would be very helpful!
I encountered the same problem before. I discovered a list of BIOS versions that support overclocking for the G3258 and had to go back to an older version to keep the clocks stable in Windows.
