I play two games that are limited to 60fps, which is generally acceptable but lately I've been interested in using G-sync for screen tearing purposes. One of the games functions properly with G-sync, allowing me to use Alt+tab and keep it running in the background without problems while maintaining my PC at 165hz. The other game, however, consistently keeps my monitor at 60fps unless I forcefully press Alt+Enter to close it and then minimize it. Is there a solution to this issue?

Hey there,
Please list your PC specs, and the games you are referring to.
Why would you cap your frame rates when using G-sync? or why cap at al? What resolution monitors do you have?
TBH though, this is most likely down to the game not release control of the refresh rate. It could just be buggy. Make sure your system is full updated both drivers and bios.
Run sfc scannow and DISM:

Apologies, I'm using a Ryzen 5700x3d with a 4060ti, running a 165hz 1440p monitor, but I experienced the same problem on my previous 1080p 144hz display. The game in question is Honkai Star Rail, and I haven't encountered this issue with any other 60fps titles. My GPU driver is current, but I'll test additional drivers and perform a scan to investigate further.

Ah, I understand. So this game seems to be capped at 60 fps due to a limitation, and it doesn't support higher resolutions.
Maybe the problem lies within the game itself, or it could be quite complicated to fix.
Have you seen similar reports from other players?

I'm predicting the game likely uses Exclusive Fullscreen and lacks a Borderless setting. There are applications that can push games into Borderless mode, improving performance during alt-tabbing. This ensures consistent 60Hz even if the game is limited to 60Hz.
