FX6350 unit rotates at over 5000 RPM
I purchased the FX6350 to replace the FX4100. The problem is the fan noise is excessive, spinning over 5000 RPM. I've set the BIOS defaults and didn't perform any overclocking. The CPU temperature is around 44°C. The motherboard is an ASRock 970DE3/U3S3. What options do I have to resolve this?
Want something cooler? Share a photo if you're unsure what it is. It seems FX is really bad—maybe just swap your board's CPU and RAM for a used Ryzen, or at least boost FX's speed to 4.8+ to make up for the slow performance.
I'm discussing a stock cooler. My goal is to protect the motherboard. It features 8 SATA ports. The Ryzen Boars offer many SATA ports but come at a higher cost. I only have one stock cooler for both and it limits my ability to overclock.
When playing games, an FX chip isn’t really necessary. It’s better to build a solid NAS with plenty of SATA ports instead. Your existing cooler will still be noisy, and the only solution is to replace it with a new cooler—likely costing more than the rest of your components.
