It seems like you're targeting a similar model, likely the 8350, and might be using an older high-end GPU like the R9 Fury or GTX 480. The focus is probably on testing cooling solutions, fans, and cases without needing a full PC setup.

GTX 480s, pick something that avoids reference specs so the VRM stays safe. Those Fermi cards were really powerful back then and used a lot of energy, but they’re likely affordable. For the CPU, opt for any 8-core Bulldozer chip—most should handle extreme overclocking if you have solid cooling and a decent VRM. With the same clock speed, it’ll probably draw more power than an FX 9590 because it wasn’t as optimized and pulls more current overall.

opt for two or three Thermi GTX 480 units instead of one. This setup will significantly increase the heat output, warming both the case and your whole home.

It looks like the TJ Maxx prices are around 50-60 cents, which seems reasonable for older items. Probably more challenging to keep them cool.

It’s around double what you should expect to pay for them. Fermi cards perform poorly and are best limited to around $50–60 each. They don’t seem to have been widely purchased again. You’ll find a few eBay listings: one for a reference blower card, another for a second reference blower card but pricier, and a liquid cooled 580 model with better power efficiency and a water block included.

The WC 580 appears to cost around $120, though there might be a better deal available.

I didn’t know you were Canadian, I thought the prices were US-based. So it’s likely you won’t have to spend more than $75 to $80 for one of those cards. This could work depending on how much risk you’re comfortable with—like a 480 Twin frozer that worked last time I tried it. Overall, it might make sense to check local listings first to see if someone is just looking to get rid of it. Below a certain price, eBay probably isn’t practical for buying or selling, and these cards are near that range.
