I'm not familiar with that. The crosshair V had all the bells and whistles available. Main focus was keeping the CPU and VRMs cool. Many FX chips struggle above 5GHz without around 1.50V. My FX9590 (delidded) performed well—its max Pstate voltage reached 1.5250V at full turbo. That voltage stayed consistent across all 5GHz cores. I reached a top frequency of 5.7GHz in geothermal liquid, gradually. Exactly what you mentioned.

It's worth noting that even a strong Intel Haswell I3 outperformed the FX in terms of performance per instruction. The main issues with the CPU were its low IPC compared to the K10, despite improvements in newer instruction sets like AVX 2 and SSE4. Many factors contributed to this, including shared FPU units, latency problems, and a subpar L2 cache. Engineers often emphasized maintaining IPC levels, aiming for clock speeds up to 5GHz, but Global Foundries faced manufacturing challenges. There was skepticism about Intel catching up after Nehalem, and early concepts like Bulldozer were met with surprise from board manufacturers who doubted its potential impact. The FX era is remembered more for pushing Intel to innovate rather than for any single product.
