FX-6350 Safe Overclock
FX-6350 Safe Overclock
I'm looking into ways to safely boost the overclocking of my FX-6350 to around 4.3/4.5, aiming to ease the CPU bottleneck in demanding games. I have an ASUS M5A97 PLUS AM3+ with the AMD 970/SB950 SATA 6Gb/s ATX board and a 600W power supply. Any advice on the best voltage approach would be appreciated. Thanks.
There are two major issues present, one involving MB with inadequate VRM cooling and the other using a stock cooler. Neither provides sufficient conductive heat dissipation. You might attempt adjusting the multiplier incrementally without increasing voltage, but you'll quickly hit power and thermal limits. Adding a small fan over the VRM could make a significant difference, and an aftermarket cooler would offer even better performance.
I swapped in the stock cooler the following day after assembling the system using a master TX3 cooler. Is it sufficient for a minor overclock, such as maintaining the 4.1 turbo clock?
