Hello friends, I mainly play Rust, H1Z1 and GTA 5. These are CPU-heavy games and my FX 6300 isn't able to reach 60 fps, so I was considering overclocking. When I play H1Z1 or Rust with a friend, he gets 60 fps or more, but when I do the same, I only get about 40 fps. I'm confused because he has an FX 8300 while I have an FX 6300 at around 3.7 ghz. My graphics card is also better than his and I have 8 GB of RAM. Help please.

If you have a good CPU cooler already, just check out a thorough overclocking guide (there are around 25 of these on the Tom's forum). He's improving his performance because he has a better CPU than yours. You could narrow that gap with a strong overclock. If you're using the built-in cooler, it's best to upgrade to a quality CPU cooler before proceeding. The stock cooler is designed for standard TDP and won't handle higher voltages and temperatures effectively.

If you have a good CPU cooler installed, simply follow an extensive overclocking guide (there are around 25 of these on the Tom's forum). He is improving his performance because he has a better CPU than yours. You might narrow that difference with a strong overclock. If you're using the original cooler, it would be wise to upgrade to a quality CPU cooler before proceeding. The standard cooler is designed for its default TDP and won't handle higher voltages and temperatures effectively.
