Hey everyone! I've been noticing occasional stutters in Osu! while everything else runs smoothly. I've checked all the guides and settings, but my GPU temperature keeps rising to around 83°C on my laptop. It seems like this might be a throttling problem rather than just a minor glitch. I'm really trying to figure this out since rhythm games are super sensitive to frame rates. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Check if your SSD is at capacity. The laptop comes with a 128 or 256 GB drive, and overfilling it may lead to slower performance.

the 960 mobile is an older graphics card, and reaching around 83°C is probably its maximum temperature. It's likely the hardware is throttling itself. I'm not sure about OCCT, but MSI afterburner can show if you're hitting temperature or power limits. Check your clock speed—does it drop gradually or jump and then stabilize? If neither CPU nor GPU is at full load, you might be experiencing throttling somewhere.

You currently possess roughly 18 gigabytes of unused storage on the 128-gigabyte drive.

OCCT indeed indicates a thermal ceiling around 83 degrees. It's unusual to see spikes even when temperatures are below that mark. I might be running at 75°C yet still experiencing them. The clock speed remains steady near 1160MHz, but usage stays under 50% most of the time.

the thermal controls began adjusting around the 1970s, gradually slowing down until reaching an 80 threshold, after which they imposed a stricter limit. it might simply reflect an outdated setup that wasn’t fine-tuned for performance. you could experiment with different settings—lower resolution, disable vSync if available, verify power options in windows and drivers, and ensure max performance is selected—but it’s likely the system itself is too old to handle the game efficiently.

Uncertain about the latest laser version on that setup. On the other hand, I don’t recall the old Osu! being too resource-heavy. I won’t stress system specs right now and will check for any other problems in your machine. I’d consider shifting around 10GB from the SSD to the hard drive and see if it helps. Cleaning the fans and adjusting the laptop’s position to allow cooler airflow could also be useful if temperature is a concern.

I think CPU is limiting performance. Check download throttling settings and adjust the max CPU multiplier.

83C is the point where most NVIDIA GPUs slow down significantly... Make sure your laptop is dust-free, check the vents and fans, possibly upgrade the thermal paste, and consider getting a laptop cooler.
