I’m okay with high CPU if I get solid FPS. I started the game later than usual and experienced big swings in FPS (sometimes dropping to around 15). My GPU temperature was normal, but the GPU was only at 900 MHz with 60% usage. I opened Task Manager and saw the CPU was locked at 100% across all threads, which is unusual since my laptop ran fine on a slower i7 without problems. Online fixes like command-line tweaks didn’t improve things much, and FPS remains very unstable.

Definitely requires a stronger GPU. It was an issue in GTA until I upgraded to 480. Usage remains high, but a powerful GPU helps more. BF1 really thrives on cores—even six-core units perform well.

It's unclear why your GPU is the issue because it's only running at around 60% usage. This was a new problem, and you didn't have any concerns about frame rate before.

It's quite demanding on the CPU.

It might not be the issue itself, just a personal story about something I experienced. Every rig behaves differently, and I understand BF1 can drain cores. However, it seems like low frame rates are likely due to high usage rather than GPU power alone. My guess is the problem could be related to the GPU even at 60% utilization. I’m not completely sure.

Check for any hidden processes consuming system resources. That might be the reason the CPU is at full capacity while the GPU operates at a lower level. Perform a new virus and malware check.

It seems the performance drops to around 15 frames per second are causing concern. I haven’t noticed this problem before, and I managed to play smoothly on my laptop during the open beta, suggesting it might be a newer issue rather than a general CPU-heavy game.

I ended all processes like Chrome since my RAM was nearing 8GB. I’ll run a malware scan now...

It's surprising how many people assume everyone needs top-tier hardware to run games smoothly. Dice doesn't require eight-core CPUs—just a capable system can handle decent performance.

It seems like you're confirming it's not hardware issues. Both your CPU and GPU are sufficient for running BF1, so you can proceed with virus scans and driver checks. If needed, search online for further guidance before installing fresh Windows.
