Hello, Kili20, I purchased an i7 6700K to upgrade my Fujitsu Esprimo D556. I have a few questions: First, can I control the CPU fan using software? Also, for achieving higher clock speeds, do I need to flash a custom BIOS or is there another method to unlock the i7's full performance? Thanks!

Hey there. Your system specifications indicate it uses a D3430-U motherboard with an H110 chipset. The H-series chipsets aren't compatible with overclocking. Source: FUJITSU Desktop ESPRIMO D556/E85+ and Data Sheet by FUJITSU, Intel.

Generally, if the BIOS doesn’t support it, there’s nothing you can do. If you’re concerned about noise, consider using a quieter cooler for the CPU. To enable overclocking on this system, you’ll need a Z-series chipset, which requires a different motherboard. For budget purposes, you might explore used or alternative motherboards that support CPU fan-curves.
