FTTP Router Model Draytek Vigor 130
FTTP Router Model Draytek Vigor 130
Hello, your upgrade to fibre to the premises with Vodafone is on track. You're currently using a Draytek Vigor 130 with TP-Link Decos for your Wi-Fi setup. Since you run a small business from home, you're considering replacing it with a router that supports FTTP. The setup includes an RJ11/ADSL port and four LAN ports, but no WLAN. I recommend looking into a Draytek model designed for FTTP, as they are reliable and don't require Wi-Fi. Let me know if you need more details!
The Vigor 130 functions as a modem, not a router. For FTTP connections, you won’t need a modem, so it won’t operate. After upgrading, install a media converter that connects to a standard RJ45 port. Then use any router with an RJ45 WAN input—most models do. A DrayTek Vigor 2766 would be suitable, though I’m not very experienced with their products.
The FTTP setup ends up at a single RJ45 port, so the Draytek Vigor 2927 could work. I was advised this because my old Linksys LRT214 stopped working and Linksys doesn’t offer other options, and I’m satisfied so far. The interface feels very similar to 2004, but in practice it’s been quite reliable. Looking into the details, it can handle almost full gigabit speeds, which most routers can’t do.
