Fried x299 Cpu? Correct?
I suspect I made a mistake with my CPU 7820x, but I want to confirm it’s the only component I need to replace. It was a test overclock on an Aida64 CPU and a high FPU stress test. The last FPU test showed very low CPU voltage, and I probably misapplied the thermal paste on my H115i (two extra applications). Eventually, the system shut down completely. When I tried to power it back on, it would turn off without entering BIOS. After taking it apart, I found a bent pin in the motherboard socket and fixed it. I reinserted the CPU, applied enough thermal paste, and reinstalled the cooler. Still nothing. I rearranged the RAM, the GPU standby light is on, but I didn’t try anything else—my surge protector still shows power. I’m trying to reset the CMOS on the motherboard, but the Q code says 00, which probably indicates a faulty BIOS or something similar.

RMA the motherboard. Even if you did get the pin straight it could still be damaged. Did the thermal grizly get on the motherboard or on the pcb of the CPU?
I'm gonna try (heard bad things about newegg RMA. Plus I'll have to clean install windows 10 pro on a new motherboard, fwp). Also I'll get a new psu to see if that's an issue. Thermal grizzly wasn't touching anything outside the heat sink but it was a lil too thick of a layer. Installed the blob/x way this time instead of spatula.
I identified the problem as the motherboard. Removing the CMOS battery reset it, which resolved the issue. I tried placing my RAM in various slots to confirm B1 wasn't being recognized, but nothing worked. It seems the pin I was using caused the malfunction. After returning the motherboard, I purchased a new one to ship.
