Hi, I purchased my PC two and a half years ago with the specifications listed below. I was quite satisfied with its performance given the price. About a year ago, I planned to upgrade my RAM. I had a 16GB (two 8192MB) G.Skill Aegis DDR4-3000 DIMM CL16-18-18-38 Dual Kit installed and wanted to increase it to 32GB. My friends gave me some, but unfortunately they didn’t buy the same again. Instead, I got a 16GB Corsair Vengeance LPX black DDR4-3000 DIMM CL15 Dual Kit. I considered trying both, but I think the issue started after that. Initially, I assumed it would be fine since both were running at the same speed. I also thought about swapping two sticks for the other, but I couldn’t decide which was better. Generally, I have some basic knowledge of computer hardware but not much more. I really appreciate anyone who can assist me. Using two different RAM modules is recommended, though you should test it yourself. Make sure you can return if it fails, otherwise stick to the same RAM sticks you had before for optimal performance. You might experiment with other RAM types, but be prepared to adjust settings or check compatibility, as long as the system boots without problems. At least you confirmed a similar clock speed of 3000 MHz.
This situation is usually due to RAM incompatibility. Trying to mix different RAM modules isn't advisable for stability. It might occasionally function, but often causes problems—especially when using kits from completely different manufacturers. You risk issues like blue screens or crashes. I suggest purchasing both kits and opting for a single package that matches your desired size and speed. Even if you buy the same kit you had two years ago, compatibility can still fail because identical models aren't always fully compatible. You may manually adjust the BIOS settings and test at the least common multiple. A possible setting is 16-18-18-38, though you should verify the speed of the Corsair Vengeance unit using CPUZ. Navigate to the SPD section, pick a Corsair stick from the dropdown, and review the XMP profile details. Choose the highest values from each kit. For example, if Corsair is 15-19-19-40 and G.Skill is 16-18-18-38, use 16-19-19-40. Another option is to install matching memory modules in the same channel.
