I just got a new PC for my grandfather, installed his old hard drive. When I start the XP loading process (don’t worry about XP itself), everything works fine. The specs are: CPU Intel Core i3 4350, motherboard Asus H81M-K, 4GB RAM. The system is booting but I’m thinking maybe upgrading to Windows 7 if needed. For backup, do you know where an Ubuntu installation on a USB drive is available? I’m on my phone and it’ll take some time to find it. Thanks!

Create an image of the BSOD and share it here. This will help us identify the error code and its parameters for analysis.

The problem arises because you installed the software on different hardware, then removed it from one system and attempted to run it on another. This won't function properly since the installation uses a different HAL than what's needed. The best solution is to re-install it for the new system. You might also want to consider moving away from XP, as it's nearing the end of its support life and poses significant security risks. The OP is using the same installation on another system, which causes a BSOD.

Oh no, I missed that. @FireCharge you'll need to reinstall. The operating system is already set up on the old motherboard and won't function properly on a brand new system.
