I recently assembled an Asus Z790-F system powered by an i7 13700K. The overall performance is satisfactory, though I suspect there might be USB-C port problems. I’m trying to figure out how to debug and fix these issues. The most noticeable problem appears at random intervals with a pop-up saying “ASUS fast charge notification - PD.” It seems the port toggles in and out of power delivery. No devices are connected when this happens. Another incident occurred when I first used the front USB-C port; the computer froze—initially several windows became blank before the cursor stuck. I’m unsure if these events are connected, but the repeated notifications make me think something might be wrong with the USB-C port. All my drivers are up to date. I’ve attached some of the related alerts. It seems to happen unpredictably while I’m using the machine.

I've encountered these problems myself, likely due to an issue inside Armoury Crate. Many z790-E users on the rog forums are facing the same, suggesting it's probably not a hardware problem. I hope a software update comes soon to fix it. For now, I've disabled ASUSFCNotifcation.exe, which prevents notifications from appearing.
Curious about your CPU installation. Are you using the original locking system or an aftermarket option such as the Thermalright CPU Contact Frame for LGA 1700 Retrofit Kit? I'm looking for a Z790-F and have noticed reports of pin contact problems from improper mounting or even a single hair getting in causing intermittent issues with the 1700 socket.
I'm using the locking system, both the CPU and board are brand new, so I’m not sure anything is stuck between them causing a problem. The strange thing is that when I connect my phone to the USB-C fast charging port, I don’t see any alerts or notifications.
For the Phone - If I were you, the first step would be buying a reliable USB-C cable. There’s a lot of low-quality options out there, so it’s important to verify before proceeding. Personally, I prefer Anker cables on Amazon—they’re reasonably priced and consistently good. Once that’s confirmed, I’d make sure the front panel I/O connector is correctly seated. Then I’d review the USB BIOS settings against the manual (page 69) since there are many configurations for this board. If those don’t match, it’s likely driver-related. Regarding notifications, I’ve checked similar issues online; it seems to be a known problem with Armoury Crate. For me, since I won’t install any ASUS software, it shouldn’t affect my build. I generally avoid unnecessary bloatware and dislike RGB lighting—it just adds visual clutter without improving performance or function. It feels like a cheap attempt to boost appearance while charging more for little value. Sometimes hardware manufacturers add flashy features just to justify higher prices.
