Freezing everything up fast and cutting down on how much power a graphics card uses in every single game
Hi guys, here is my computer setup link: https://www.amazon.com.tr/MSI-MODERN-15-...B09JZHN1KH I've tried deleting the graphics card drivers using DDU and installing new ones from scratch. Nothing works differently. After I turned on my laptop, it gets really slow in every game like you'll see right now. You can also check the MSI Afterburner numbers in the video attached here. I'm having trouble playing games even with GTA 5 because of this issue despite my system being set to high performance and plugged into a charger. Some things like services are turned off. Any help would be great. Video of the problem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0nu1up8i4XI
Hey there! First off, you might be expecting your laptop's performance to be really fast. The MX450 is just an entry-level GPU, which means it's not great for playing games unless they are very simple ones like light strategy games. Even if you lower the graphics settings in GTA V, it will still slow down and use up your power because of your GPU. Your system might be getting too hot or running out of speed (throttling). What was the last time you took the laptop apart to clean it? You should take off the bottom cover of the chassis and wipe everything down really well to get all that dust off the fans and every other part you can see there. Also, your CPU is okay but not super powerful. For big AAA games, it might get a bit slow too because that 4 core / 8 thread layout has fallen out of fashion now. You could try using Throttlestop to lower the voltage on the CPU to see if that helps boost its speed.
When I watched the video again, I realized that the CPU usage shoots up to 100% right away, and the game freezes instantly. Then the GPU goes down to 10%, and the CPU usage drops to somewhere between 30% and 40%. After that, the game recovers. This is what's wrong with it.
Nope. The G7 series from Intel is basically shut down because of 11th Gen chips. They took out the voltage control and cut some other settings. @artifactr Some makers set very low power limits, which can hurt performance. The advertised MHz might not be useful if your computer runs slow because it hits a power or current limit throttle instead. Try running ThrottleStop. Upload a screenshot of the FIVR and TPL windows to www.imgur.com or another place like that. Open the Options window and make sure the Nvidia GPU box is checked so this data shows up. Turn on the Log File option and play a game for 15 minutes. When you finish, copy the log file info to pastebin.com. The file will be in your ThrottleStop / Logs folder with today's date as its name.
