Free video editor tool for creating tutorials or educational content
Hello everyone,
I'm searching for a video editor that supports drag/drop features, similar to mobile apps or PowerPoint animation tools. The key requirements are:
- Drag and drop animations such as bounce, rotate, fade, swipe, swirl, etc.
- Drag and drop transitions or lower thirds functionality
- Ability to add icons, hints, callouts, notes, etc.
The most important aspect is the flexibility to download new templates, assets, and effects from the internet, not just from their own online store.
The software must work offline, not online.
I’m open to paying for it.
I’ve tried the following software and why I didn’t like them:
- PowerPoint: Great for educational content and video export, but exporting takes a long time.
- Capcut: Easy drag-and-drop, but lacks advanced features like adjusting object width/height and is restricted to store assets.
- After Effects: Requires significant effort for simple animations like bounce effects.
- Democreator: Too focused on marketing, not practical for this use case.
- Camtasia: Appears interesting but offers limited offline resources.
There isn't any widespread popularity, just a few tutorial videos on YouTube and no resources available anywhere.
What kind of equipment do you possess? A weak PC can make video encoding slow no matter what software you employ. The higher the resolution, the longer the process will be, especially with a 4k output. If you have a dedicated GPU that supports hardware acceleration for 264 encoding, you could stream the presentation in full screen and record via OBS in real time.
On Windows, Clipchamp is the top choice for video editing. If you're using the newest Windows version, it's likely already there, though it may be hidden. If not, it's simple to install.
