Hello everyone, welcome! I understand this might be confusing, so please forgive any errors from my side. Over the past few months, I've faced this unusual stuttering problem with my PC, and I'm not sure what's causing it. To be clear, my games run smoothly when I first boot Windows, but after about an hour of play they start to stutter randomly and experience frame rate drops. The only solution is to restart the computer, but it always comes back, which is really annoying. I've turned off all overlays, including the Steam one, and disabled fast boot in both Windows and BIOS. I've checked temperatures and usage stats, but nothing seems abnormal. Should I go ahead and reinstall Windows? Could there be a driver issue? Any advice would be appreciated. I've attached some screenshots showing the frame rate spikes. One image captures the spikes after a short gaming session, and another shows the spikes disappearing after a restart.

The main software was MSI Afterburner along with the Nvidia recording app. I also have HWiNFO64 installed, though I haven’t used it recently.

I don't have a full system specification. Could you provide the details you're referring to?

Based on previous encounters, HWiNFO may lead to stuttering in games.

System details: MSI z790 Tomahawk Max Wi-Fi Mobo Intel i9 12900K paired with Kraken Elite 360 (2023) for cooling. Two 16GB Gskill Trident Z 6400MT with XMP enabled. Samsung 990 Pro 2TB (boot drive, running Windows 11 Home). Samsung 970 EVO 1TB (boot drive, OS is Windows 11 Home). MSI 4080 Super Ventus 3x OC Corsair Rm850x power supply unit H7 Flow case and Sound Blaster Z PCIe sound card in the lowest PCIe slot on the motherboard. Confirmed it's likely unnecessary in 2024. Monitor: older ASUS PG279QZ 1440p with built-in G-Sync module. Temperatures: CPU stays between 50-60°C during gaming with occasional spikes to 65°C, peaks around 90°C at full load in Cinebench 23; GPU stays at 65-70°C under heavy load, 45-50°C idle with no fan spinning. SSDs: Both drives maintain around 45-50°C.

No, the RAM dimming in slots 2 and 4 is not related to the CPU.

Attempted to avoid that action? Uncertain about the cause, but possibly it consumes your RAM or SSD cache, leading to slower performance. Does this occur even after a short break before launching the game? In essence, does it depend on how long you play or how long the system runs?

It's possible, though there seems to be a latency problem with certain hardware sensors. This can be observed and turned off using hwinfo64. For instance, I had to disable PSU readings even though the sensors themselves were functioning correctly.

That's great to hear! It really clarifies things now. I was also checking my HX1200i sensors at that moment.
