Hey everyone, I just purchased a PowerColor HD 6850 GPU and paired it with my A6-6400K APU. I was hoping the performance would skyrocket thanks to the GPU, but it hasn’t improved much—still around 30 to 50 FPS, well below the 40 average I expected. Everything seems set to the lowest options except Shadow Quality, which is at Low, and the resolution is stretched to 1024x768. Am I doing something wrong, or is my APU just not powerful enough for smooth gameplay? If it isn’t, what’s the best performance I can expect from the Athlon X4 860K? The rest of my setup includes a GA-F2A88XM-D3H motherboard, BIOS version F1, and a 500W power supply. RAM is an Exceleram 1333MHz 2x2 GB.
Your CPU is causing a drop in FPS. The Athlon model seems to be underperforming, and adjusting the settings might improve things.
Did your computer not start properly? Have you connected it to the GPU and checked the drivers?
Consider downloading DDU from the provided link and obtaining the newest AMD drivers. Run DDU to eliminate all AMD software, skip safe mode if possible, and it should work perfectly. Afterward, restart your computer and reinstall the updated drivers. If this doesn't resolve the issue, a CPU limitation might be the cause.
