Hi. I’m facing some major problems with my main PC. Here are the details. I ran Fallout 4 on my laptop without any issues at low frame rates—consistently around 35-40 FPS, no stutters or drops. I played most of it. After setting up Fallout 4, I swapped out my save files so I could keep progressing. But whenever I change the game settings (low, medium, high), the frame rate fluctuates badly. I’ve checked the temperatures and they’re within normal ranges. What’s going on? I also played Tomb Raider 2013, This War of Mine, and a few other older titles without trouble. My PC specs are: i3 4170/4GB/GTX570, laptop i7 4500U, 8GB RAM, 8870MHz, 2GB GDDR5.

Fallout 4 may require over 4GB of memory in certain situations. On my system it often reaches around 5GB. The game suggests a minimum of 8GB RAM.

Start with MSI Afterburner and install Riva Turner Static. Then add an overlay in-game to display RAM usage. Alternatively, you could play Fallout 4 and check Task Manager while it's open in the alt tab.

It requires approximately 3.5GB of RAM. The CPU performance is low, while the GPU utilization is near 90%.

Yes, even with high RAM usage, frame drops can still occur due to other factors like graphics settings or system load.
