fps problem
fps problem
when it was first built a week ago, playing kingdom come gave me around 90 to 130 fps at 1080p with full GPU usage and CPU at 40% to 80%. now the performance drops to 50 to 70 fps while GPU usage stays between 40% to 80%, CPU between 30% to 50%, using under 3 GB of VRAM out of 8GB, and 8 GB RAM from a 16 GB system. v-sync is disabled, radeon chill is off, gpu temp is 37 to 43 and cpu temp is 60 to 70 degrees. during heaven benchmark it ran smoothly with 98% to 100% gpu usage. the system specs are: ryzen 5 2600x, sapphire pulse vega 56, 16 (2x8) gbs corsair lpx 3200mhz ram, b450 tomahawk motherboard, 500gb m.2 nvme drive, evga g2 650 80+ gold power supply. any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Big shot in the dark here, and shouldn't be much trouble for a fresh build but try swapping your GPU to another PCI-E slot. If I'm right about this, it will feel like a miracle. If I'm wrong, at least you rule it out.
but i attempted to launch another game and the gpu usage reached 98% to 100%
It seems like a game update was made for your PC, but there were some changes involved.
Try this: open Windows settings, select Update & Security, then click Check for updates under Windows Update. Even after the update, new updates might appear.
After clicking Check for updates, wait until it confirms you're fully updated—no further updates should start. If they do, allow them and restart your PC.
This step might help, but it's another part of troubleshooting you're considering.
I also came across this on Steam recently... It seems the game was just updated this morning and your problem might be linked to that specific patch (unless it's a Windows update change). Although the intention was to resolve issues, poorly crafted patches can sometimes create new complications. You might need to tweak some graphics options to recover your frame rate and let the developers know so they can improve the next version.
As illustrated, begin by reducing Shader Quality to the lowest setting. Next, lower Shadows to about a medium level. Then decrease Object Quality, Water Quality, and Object Distance, starting with a reduction of one tier below their current values.
Continue adjusting Post Process Quality, Game Effects, Lighting, Vegetation Detail, Vegetation Draw Distance, and Motion Blur in the same manner. Remember, these changes are based on your personal preferences—adjust them to suit what matters most to you. If you prefer a certain setting over another, don’t push it too far. And when you’re less concerned about one aspect, go further with it.
As always, making these tweaks should help boost your FPS without sacrificing visual quality.
