Fps drops are normal or not? High-end PC
I'm experiencing these challenges with FPS fluctuations (microstutters) in games and encountered similar issues on two gaming PCs. My latest system is a 5600x RTX 3070 with 32GB DDR4 RAM at 3600MHz, powered by a B550+ motherboard and a Corsair 750W RM750 PSU. While most games run smoothly, the "fps-related lags" still bother me. Certain titles show minimal or no lag, while others have noticeable drops. Games like ESO, GTA5, Online, and WoW are generally stable, though Medieval Dynasty occasionally experiences brief lags. I don’t notice FPS lag in New World or Fortnite, but Guild Wars 2 did. Black Desert Online also had some stuttering, which lessened when I increased graphics settings. New World showed occasional stutters, and Rust became sluggish after an update, which mirrors my current setup. Ring of Elysium had a few FPS issues, and Minecraft worked well without major city-building. CS:GO has minor microstutters but remains playable, while IST for example has some lagging early on but stabilizes afterward. Personally, I’m more sensitive to frame drops and graphical oddities than others. Some people say these problems are typical, especially in games with texture-heavy rendering. My PC user I am, so I’ve tried everything recommended—temperatures are normal, CPU usage in games stays between 20-40%, and I ran stress tests with Prime95 and MemTest86 without issues. Voltages were within safe ranges, and my system is stable overall.
Games that are well-optimized rarely cause such problems.
Based on my observations, some games seem to have significant optimization issues. In my experience with No Man's Sky, after the latest update I frequently encounter performance drops to as low as 20FPS upon logging in. This occurs even with a 5900X and a 3080 monitor, though my FPS is currently around 160, which matches my monitor's refresh rate of 165Hz.
Sure. Maybe I'm expecting too much from my PC since I can still play the games at the highest setting with my 1440p display (165hz with gsync). The games seem quite playable. I believe those who claim they have no frame drops probably don't notice them. It's not that the games are freezing or crashing, or have frame drops lasting more than a half second. Fortnite also had poor FPS drops with crashes, but I fixed it by not updating my GPU with the Msi afterburner.
I have performed these user benchmarks before. When I don’t overclock my GPU using MSI afterburner, the scores aren’t as high on UserBenchmark. I also ran 3DMark on Steam and the outcomes look normal. Unigine Valley results:

After overclocking my GPU with MSI afterburner, I achieved a slightly improved result. (This score is without the MSI afterburner overclock.)
