My personal computer consistently reduces its frame rate to 30 frames per second, even when configured with minimal settings and without any other applications running. I am seeking assistance because this issue prevents me from participating in online gaming sessions with my friends.

Specifications:
Graphics Card: 1050 ti (mobile)
Processor: i5 8th generation (mobile)
Memory: 8gb
This laptop was purchased in June of 2018

I’m interested in playing strategy video games like Civilization and Stellaris. I also enjoy puzzle games such as Portal 2 and The Witness. My laptop is a Dell XPS 15 with an Intel i7 processor and 16GB of RAM.

Ensure your graphics card drivers are up to date. Verify that VSync is disabled in your display settings. Check for any options that limit frame rates, and disable them.

I’ve tried it with v sync off and I have it locked to 60 fps and I have the latest drivers installed

What resolution are you trying to play the game at? those tend to run independent of the settings. Try lowering that to below 1080p.

I’ve been optimizing my settings and tweaking everything I can, but it still drops to 30fps a lot.
