If your system limits itself to 60 frames per second, a 120Hz monitor would still display at 60 frames, not 120. Therefore, you wouldn't be able to see 120 grams under those conditions.

No. 60fps means each frame is shown twice during the monitor refresh but only the most recent image is displayed. At 120hz it can still feel smoother with slightly reduced latency, but to fully enjoy it you require a system capable of 120fps. Achieving 120fps demands more than just a good GPU; it needs a complete PC configuration and compatible games that support that frame rate.

You will observe 60 frames, appearing 120 times per second. If each frame were precisely synchronized, it would display twice for every cycle.

In summary, I should be able to achieve 120 FPS on games with a 120Hz monitor, or I would need to upgrade my GPU to handle 120 frames.

It's not just the GPU that matters. The CPU also plays a significant role in determining the possible frame rate.
